The cities are defined at several conceptual levels: - the core city, using an administrative definition of the Larger Urban Zone (LUZ), approximating the functional urban region and for 8 capitals, the City Kernel, a concept introduced to improve comparability between large cities. The data set used in this service is the Urban Audit 2001, European Commission - Eurostat/GISCO dataset based on EuroBoundaryMap 2001 (Eurogeographics) and spatial data supplied by Urban Audit delegates from Member States. The view service follows WMS 1.3.0 protocol. It supports WGS84 (EPSG:4326) and ETRS89 (EPSG:4258) coordinate reference systems. The service operates on data between a scale of 1:1.000.000 and a scale of 1:3.000.000.
